{"id":1845,"date":"2020-03-06T16:30:57","date_gmt":"2020-03-06T21:30:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/studentenergy.org\/?p=1845"},"modified":"2020-06-22T11:40:02","modified_gmt":"2020-06-22T15:40:02","slug":"annual-report-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/studentenergy.org\/annual-report-2019\/","title":{"rendered":"Annual Report 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Student Energy\u2019s 2019 Annual Report is out!<\/b>\u00a0Check it out\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/documentcloud.adobe.com\/link\/track?uri=urn:aaid:scds:US:a718018c-b8af-47c4-bdc9-f3857926547f\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>New to this annual report is a section titled \u201cReflecting on 2019: What we learned\u201d. Student Energy runs on a youth empowerment model, which means that the priorities and needs of our 50,000-strong global youth network are central to the strategic direction of the organization. We want to make sure that we are listening to, and acting on young people\u2019s feedback, \u00a0so we\u2019ve synthesized the main priorities we\u2019ve heard from our youth network (which include a focus on justice and equity in the energy transition, calls for transparency, a greater need for mentorship, and the importance of intergenerational collaboration), and discussed how we\u2019re taking action on them.<\/p>\n<p>We hope to continue to share these learnings and our process, to continually improve transparency and accountability with our youth network.<\/p>\n<p><b>In this report, we also review\u00a0our takeaways from 2019\u2019s biggest projects:\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Our growing Chapters program, now with 40 chapters who engaged 8,100 people through their 2019 projects<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Our 6th International Student Energy Summit in London, which brought together 650 students from 98 countries<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hosting a Young Leaders Forum at the Clean Energy Ministerial and Mission Innovation Forum &#8211; a first for this high level ministerial event<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SevenGen, the first Indigenous Student Energy Summit<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.studentenergy.org\/posts\/997-student-energy-at-the-un-climate-action-summit\">Our role<\/a>\u00a0at the UN Climate Summit in New York as an official delivery partner of the UN Secretary General<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Running the second annual Greenpreneurs business pitch competition with Youth Climate Lab and the Global Green Growth Initiative, in which the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.studentenergy.org\/posts\/995-announcing-the-2019-greenpreneurs-pitch-competition-winners\">3 winning teams<\/a>\u00a0(all women-led!) received USD$5000 in seed funding to scale their initiatives<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Finally, we look forward to 2020, which is set to be an even bigger year &#8211; for Student Energy, and for world leaders to commit to truly bold and equitable climate action. We came away from 2019\u2019s UN Climate Change Conference (COP25), disappointed by the lack of ambition shown by world leaders, but incredibly inspired by the leadership shown by young people and Indigenous communities from around the world.
