Between the 13th and 15th of the month, hundreds of climate-conscious change makers converged to forge new connections, strengthen existing bonds, and provide a space for keen intergenerational engagement on key climate issues.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This year\u2019s forum theme was \u201cThe Future is Regenerative,\u201d exemplifying the event\u2019s commitment to youth empowerment and sustainability. GLOBE Series operates as part of <a href=\"https:\/\/profoundry.ca\/\">Profoundry<\/a>, a collective of like-minded sustainability and climate experts dedicated to helping organizations create positive sustainable change. The group, including <a href=\"https:\/\/delphi.ca\/\">Delphi<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cbsr.ca\/\">CBSR<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/leadingchangecanada.com\/\">Leading Change<\/a>, is collectively focused on achieving its vision: a more sustainable, prosperous, socially just future within a generation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In GLOBE\u2019s own words:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The world is rising to meet the immense social, economic, and environmental challenges of our time, and there are more opportunities to create value in the clean economy than ever before. It is no longer enough to simply reduce our environmental impact or repair the damage that has already been done.<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We need to rethink what\u2019s possible, reimagine our economy, and reach beyond sustainability to regeneration.<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Student Energy was fortunate to have several members of our team in attendance: Danii Kehler representing <a href=\"https:\/\/sevengenenergy.org\/\">SevenGen<\/a>, Julie Boyce representing <a href=\"https:\/\/studentenergy.org\/program\/career_training_program\/\">Student Energy Career Training<\/a>, and Piper Stump representing our global <a href=\"https:\/\/studentenergy.org\/chapters\/\">Chapters<\/a> program! Piper was eager to share her reflections and takeaways from her participation in GLOBEForum24 with the Student Energy community.<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_17357\" style=\"width: 880px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-17357\" class=\" wp-image-17357\" src=\"https:\/\/studentenergy.org\/site\/assets\/uploads\/2024\/03\/1-600x225.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"880\" height=\"330\" srcset=\"https:\/\/studentenergy.org\/site\/assets\/uploads\/2024\/03\/1-600x225.png 600w, https:\/\/studentenergy.org\/site\/assets\/uploads\/2024\/03\/1-1024x384.png 1024w, https:\/\/studentenergy.org\/site\/assets\/uploads\/2024\/03\/1-768x288.png 768w, https:\/\/studentenergy.org\/site\/assets\/uploads\/2024\/03\/1-1536x576.png 1536w, https:\/\/studentenergy.org\/site\/assets\/uploads\/2024\/03\/1.png 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 880px) 100vw, 880px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-17357\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Left to right: Piper Stump, Danii Kehler, Julie Boyce.<\/p><\/div>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Piper\u2019s Key Takeaways<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This past week I attended <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/feed\/hashtag\/?keywords=lcforum24&amp;highlightedUpdateUrns=urn%3Ali%3Aactivity%3A7165807988237168640\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">LCForum24<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/feed\/hashtag\/?keywords=globeforum&amp;highlightedUpdateUrns=urn%3Ali%3Aactivity%3A7165807988237168640\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">GLOBEForum<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as one of over 120 young sustainability leaders in <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/company\/leading-change-canada\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Leading Change<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2019s 2024 delegation!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This conference was an incredible opportunity to connect intergenerationally with sustainability leaders across Canada on key issues that we as a nation face such as achieving net-zero targets, building a regenerative future, and the importance of intersectional, equitable, and diverse inclusion. A few of my favorite takeaways from my time at the GLOBEForum include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/pattiegonia\/?hl=en\">Pattie Gonia\u2019s<\/a> not only inspiring message to use nature as a mentor in business and in leading us to a regenerative future (\u201cnature\u2019s leadership is circular\u201d), but also by kicking the conference off with a brilliantly rain-themed drag performance (perhaps the most epic start to any conference I will ever attend?).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Both <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/maya-colombani-0a118369\/?originalSubdomain=ca\">Maya Colombani<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/jane-mcdonald-75695a66\/?originalSubdomain=ca\">Jane McDonald\u2019s<\/a> insight into corporate sustainability and the importance of transparent and humble communication of sustainability impact and goals within the private sector. Following the discussion of \u201cgreenhushing,\u201d Maya spoke on the \u201cright to fail\u201d, and how publicly acknowledging missed targets is a crucial step in achieving sustainability targets.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lastly, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/kathleen-cadungog\/?originalSubdomain=ca\">Kat Cadungog\u2019s<\/a> closing message, urging organizations to take imminent action was especially empowering. She called for groups to be willing to learn from mistakes and contribute meaningfully to our economy and communities by putting plans in action <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">tomorrow<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Taking incremental steps everyday is imperative to achieving our 2030 and 2050 climate and net zero goals.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div id=\"attachment_17356\" style=\"width: 874px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-17356\" class=\" wp-image-17356\" src=\"https:\/\/studentenergy.org\/site\/assets\/uploads\/2024\/03\/2-600x225.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"874\" height=\"328\" srcset=\"https:\/\/studentenergy.org\/site\/assets\/uploads\/2024\/03\/2-600x225.png 600w, https:\/\/studentenergy.org\/site\/assets\/uploads\/2024\/03\/2-1024x384.png 1024w, https:\/\/studentenergy.org\/site\/assets\/uploads\/2024\/03\/2-768x288.png 768w, https:\/\/studentenergy.org\/site\/assets\/uploads\/2024\/03\/2-1536x576.png 1536w, https:\/\/studentenergy.org\/site\/assets\/uploads\/2024\/03\/2.png 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 874px) 100vw, 874px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-17356\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Piper and Pattie, The Canada Cleantech Leadership Pitch Panel, and Annabelle Liao of G7 Research Group with Julie Boyce.<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There were so many takeaways from this event and I am having a hard time expressing only a few but I truly appreciate the authentic intergenerational collaboration facilitated by GLOBE and Leading Change and am delighted to have had this opportunity to meet so many wonderful changemakers from across the country.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I will leave you with these absolutely fundamental quotes from Pattie Gonia:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0&#8220;That commitment to bridging differences leads to innovation and momentum that enables the climate and #sustainability movement to go forward, and really speaks to the importance of embedding that diversity as a core value of this movement.&#8221;<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;Everyone has heard the phrase, this team is operating like a well-oiled machine &#8211; but how different does it feel to say, this team is thriving like a well-nurtured meadow?&#8221;<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2>More to come&#8230;<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Stay tuned, because we have more to share!
